Review, LQA and post-editing for European Portuguese
Many files arrive grammatically correct and wrong for the market: produced by engines or memories built for Brazilian Portuguese, with inconsistent terminology or a register that is not that of Portugal.
Review fixes the file; LQA measures it and explains the findings, so the client can make decisions about the vendor, the engine or the process. I do both on the full file, not on a sample.
What it covers
- Full bilingual review against the source
- LQA with an error report by category and severity, in the client’s model
- Full machine translation post-editing (MTPE)
- Detection of Brazilian Portuguese markers in translations and memories
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between review and LQA?
- In a review, I correct the text so that it is ready to use. In LQA, I assess the quality of the translation: each error is classified by category and severity, and I deliver a report with a score and comments.
- Do you post-edit machine translation?
- Yes, full post-editing, held to the same standard as human translation. For documents intended for participants or patients, I always recommend full post-editing.
- Can you tell whether a translation was made for Brazil?
- Yes. There are regular markers in spelling (“contato”, “registrar”), vocabulary (“equipe”, “celular”), syntax (“seu médico” without the article) and forms of address. I flag and correct them.
